Let us help "Improve YOUR Quality of Life!"
Senior patients face age specific dental health challenges. As people age, tooth enamel wears and the gums recede. This can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, loss of teeth and a host of related health problems. Over 400 prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications degrade oral health and promote rampant and difficult to treat root decay. Difficulty chewing dramatically reduces the ability to maintain healthy teeth, gums, and can diminish the enjoyment of many foods.
Many seniors can quickly improve their dental health and quality of life with proper dental care and appliances to replace missing teeth. Good oral health is an essential part of good general health and well-being throughout life.
Dental Appliance and Services for Seniors
Many people over the age of 60 have some form of tooth loss, discolored or damaged teeth. Cosmetic dentistry uses special materials and advanced techniques to restore teeth to a more youthful, natural appearance. Cosmetic procedures that seniors can benefit from include crowns, bridges, replacement fillings, veneers, bonding and whitening teeth.
The proper dental care will help ensure that your senior years are enjoyable years! Smile!
What we can do for YOU...
Developing the right treatment for you requires teamwork between you, us, and the dental laboratory. We have established relationships with the best laboratories, preventing miscommunication and unwanted surprises.
For many seniors, the main goal is to replace teeth that have been lost. Missing teeth pose more than an aesthetic issue. The surrounding teeth may shift out of position toward gaps, and bacteria are more likely to grow in these gaps. Missing teeth can also cause difficulty chewing and speaking. While a dental crown or a bridge may be used to replace one or two lost teeth, some seniors need a more comprehensive solution such as dentures or dental implants.
Dentures are a relatively affordable solution for replacing missing teeth. They can be constructed to replace just a few teeth or an entire set. Dr. Hill can help fit you for full or partial dentures or replace your existing dentures. However, being happy wearing dentures is a matter of attitude. Some people find the regular cleaning, the maintenance and the fit to be troublesome. Furthermore, traditional dentures will not prevent bone loss (called resorption) that will have a collapsing effect on your face. Bone loss can be prevented by replacing missing teeth with dental implants.
Dental implants are an excellent alternative to traditional dentures or bridgework for replacing missing teeth. Once they are implanted in the jawbone, the implants act as an anchor. Dental implants are used to support a single crown, a bridge or even a full set of dentures. Removable dentures held in place by implants do not require the use of dental adhesives and will not move during eating. Alternatively, a fixed denture or fixed bridge can be permanently attached to dental implants. The result is nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. Dental implants help prevent bone loss and are an ideal solution for replacing missing teeth.
